HBCU Grad Jaylen Christie Brings Diversity to New Comic Book Series
There’s a new superhero in town and his name is Jaylen Christie. Affectionately known as “The Superfly Nerd,” Christie is an award-winning writer, actor, cartoonist, motivational speaker, and public relations expert.
His debut comic book, Stink Bomb Man and The Brain Kids is a humourous adventure story with lots of action for the whole family. The characters first came to life in Jaylen’s three-year-old imagination and it has been a lifelong dream for them to be shared with others.
While the idea has been there since childhood, the writing was 10 years in the making.
“Twenty Twenty Two was the year that I finally was like, you know what, Jalen, let's work on you. Let's work on your own dreams,” he said.
As a PR professional, Jaylen has led strategic communications planning and execution and generated media coverage for brands including Sodexo, Massey Services, RDV Sportsplex, FHSAA, Chick-Fil-A, and The Salvation Army of Orlando.
Christie is working on his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Central Florida, where he continues focusing on diversity.
“My studies with a Ph.D. will be all centered on diversity, equity and inclusion, black masculinity, categorically speaking.”
Stink Bomb Man and The Brain Kids is now available for purchase online.
