How We Met
I don’t remember the moment I met Nikkie Pryce, but I will never forget how she makes me feel when I am in her presence.
I matter.
Everything I do matters to Nikkie.
It’s her divine assignment to lift while she climbs.
We first met on the campus of Florida A&M University so, it was only right that we reunited at a FAMU alumni picnic in Atlanta’s Centennial Park.
As usual, Nikkie caught my eye. Whether you know her name or not, Nikkie’s is a familiar face. She’s someone you want to know. It was a hot July day and she was working the “I Am Community” table trying to expand her network.
I quickly shuffled to her table, put down my fish plate and hugged her like it was the last hug I’d ever give.
Overjoyed and perplexed, I studied her glow. I surveyed her body searching for the source of her excitement. Her mother had passed just days prior to this celebration, but I couldn’t see it. I didn’t see her grief.
Nikkie has a God-given joy that should be bottled up sold in stores. Everyone needs to know this kind of love.
The next week I invited Nikkie to be a part of a studio audience for a new project. She didn’t just show up, she brought another Rattler along. My heart was so full. Nothing makes me happier than seeing alumni support each other.
Her “I Am Community” network is changing lives. Through affirmations, she teaches others how to live better and reach their goals. She's helping me reach mine.
She doesn’t know it, but she matters to me. Everything she does matters to me. When I celebrate her gifts, I am celebrating my own.
When I grow up, I want to be just like her: bold, beautiful and unapologetic about the confidence and the power I have in my own will.
Nikkie, you are too dope for words.
About Nikkie
Nikkie Pryce has earned the title as "self-love influencer" through her organization The I AM Community.
The community is comprised of dreamers that encourage self-love and self-awareness starting with I AM affirmations. What all started as a simple journey to finding her own self-love became a phenomenon of connections and solid relationships.
She found herself struggling with low self-esteem and low self- confidence for years. After, discovering her potential, she was bound to get on the journey to teaching others to do the same.
Before, the success of the community, Pryce honed her craft as a multimedia journalist. She started her professional career working as a television co-host for an ABC affiliate in the Tallahassee, Fl market.
She has also worked extravagant celebrity red carpet events and interviewed prominent individuals in the entertainment industry such as: Bishop T.D Jakes, Devon Franklin, Meagan Good, Hip-Hop Rapper Fabolous, actor Pooch “Derwin Davis” Hall, Mali Music, International gospel recording artist, Tye Tribbett, and many more.
